Program will be anounced soon
The Azores offers more than a beautiful destination. Its natural environment creates the right atmosphere for meaningful scientific exchange, new collaborations, and strategic discussion. The combination of dramatic scenery, Atlantic setting, and strong sense of place makes it an ideal location to bring together the growing global gas fermentation community in 2027. This is an inference based on the region’s geography, environmental character, and recognised natural heritage.

Conference philosophy
The conference aims to provide an inclusive and collaborative environment where all participants contribute actively and equally to the scientific programme. Instead of featuring keynote spekers, all participants will be given a short presentation slot, creating a balanced and engaging programme. Plenty of time will be set aside for discussions, networking, and informal interactions, helping to spark new ideas, strengthen collaborations, and connect researchers across different career stages and areas of expertise.

Azores
The 2027 Gas Fermentation Conference will take place from Monday 24 May to Friday 28 May 2027 in Ponta Delgada, the capital of São Miguel Island in the Azores. The Azores, a remarkable mid-Atlantic archipelago of nine islands, are known for their volcanic landscapes, crater lakes, geothermal activity, and exceptional natural heritage. The region is home to the Azores UNESCO Global Geopark, and its identity is strongly linked to sustainability, nature, and the Atlantic environment.
The island of São Miguel is an ideal location for this meeting because it offers both inspiration and focus. Its dramatic setting creates a memorable backdrop for scientific exchange, while its strong association with sustainability and natural systems aligns closely with the themes of innovation, biotechnology, and the future of gas fermentation. This final point is an inference based on the region’s geography and recognised environmental character.
